Ombak Bali Surf Film Festival in Bali

With two weeks to go Ombak Bali is counting down towards opening night on July 20. South East Asia’s one and only surf film festival will once again screen the best and latest in surf films and documentaries.

Opening night

Opening night on Wednesday July 20 will bring a film from Papua New Guinea to Seminyak beach. Asian premiere ‘SPLINTERS’ tells the story of a remote seaside community which is being splintered by the country’s first-ever national surfing titles in which the village men and women compete. SPLINTERS had its world premiere this April at the New York Tribeca Film Festival. Also screening that night is an award winning short by Irish surf photographer Mickey Smith and an environmental film by ‘Surfers Against Sewage’. The complete film line-up will be announced on July 5.

Ombak Bali not only offers good cinema but also lots of good sounds thanks to our partner Rhythm. Kicking off on opening night is Ray’D’Sky from Jakarta, this four piece band with front man Aray of Steven and the Coconut Trees is guaranteed to get you grooving. Other bands are Ulu Roots, Dialog Dini Hari, with Ombak Bali closing off on Saturday July 23 with Andy and the smoking skull.

La Plancha!! Yes, Seminyak’s most happening venue is hosting this year’s festival with a big screen right on the beach.

Ombak Bali would like to thank it’s main sponsors Billabong, Rip Curl, Oakley and La Plancha for making this 4th edition possible.
